Turning a Pasture into a Garden

14 days have passed since we moved our chickens to a corner of our hay pasture. Where I am turning it into a in-garden. Every week I will be posting about how the chickens are doing and what progress they have made.

I am mulching where the chickens have been. I am feeding them where I want them to be scratching. The Chick-Shaw is making its way around the garden.


We are building a regenerative farm. We don't want to till the pasture, and we will not be spraying any pesticides on our field. We will use a permaculture technique that uses nature to move our farm in the direction we want the farm to go.

Chickens naturally scratch and fertilize the ground. Right now, we have a problem of, the abundance of grass in our future commercial garden. The grass took over the garden so fast this year, I couldn't keep up with weeding the garden. I decided to use the natural instincts of our chickens to help me start the transformation from pasture to garden.
