[4KHDR] Driving in Germany: Autobahn A7 E45 E43 from Würzburg to Rothenburg ob der Tauber

In this video you can drive along on the Autobahn A7 E45-E43 from Würzburg to Rothenburg ob der Tauber. This section of the A7, Germany's longest Autobahn, is notorious for the many construction sites over the past decades.

Würzburg is a historical city on the Main river in the very North of Bavaria. Just Southeast of the city is the important junction between the A7 and A3 Autobahns, both very important cross-European traffic corridors. The A7 starts on the border with Denmark (Flensburg) in the North of Germany and runs until the border with Austria in the South (Füssen).

Although the landscapes and scenery can be quite beautiful, this part of the A7 can be quite frustrating to drive. You'll notice quite a few long-term construction sites, one of the worst being the one close to Rothenburg ob der Tauber. Especially in the holiday season this North-South corridor combined with the attraction of tourists to the historical city of Rothenburg is very busy. The long-term construction site has a 1+1+1 setup, the middle lane being reversible. As you'll see in the video, the lane opens up in our direction just after I pass the entrance. This caused an easy 20-30 minute extra delay.
