This lesser-known but stunning harbour offers excellent all-weather protection in a remote, natural setting—ideal for those seeking tranquility away from busier anchorages.

Watch as we carefully navigate in, often timing our arrival around tidal considerations in nearby passages, then set the hook in one of the sheltered pockets with good holding in mud or sand. The 4788 handles the calm waters beautifully, giving us plenty of room to swing or even stern-tie if needed for extra security in tighter spots. Depths are accommodating for our 47-footer, and the harbour provides reliable shelter from winds and swells, making it a reliable overnight or multi-day stop.

Chameleon Harbour shines with classic coastal BC wilderness features: steep forested hillsides dropping to the water's edge, dense evergreen trees, rocky shorelines, and abundant marine life—think seals lounging on rocks, eagles soaring overhead, and potential sightings of porpoises or whales transiting nearby channels. The area feels remote and pristine, with opportunities for dinghy exploring, kayaking along the shoreline, or simply relaxing on deck amid the quiet beauty. It's a great base for day trips toward nearby rapids, Gowlland Harbour, or onward routes through the Discovery Islands.

No docks, no facilities—just pure, untouched nature in this peaceful harbour, part of the broader cruising network around the Discovery Islands and leading toward Desolation Sound adventures. It's one of those hidden gems that rewards boaters who venture a bit off the main path.
