🎬Girl, Interrupted (1999): In 1967, 19-year-old Susanna (Winona Ryder) feels overwhelmed by her mental state and is diagnosed with Borderline Personality Disorder. Her doctor advises her parents to commit her to Claymore Hospital, where she spends the next 18 months grappling with her inner turmoil and navigating the peculiar world of the institution. During her stay, Susanna forms bonds with fellow patients like the rebellious Lisa (Angelina Jolie), burn victim Polly (Elizabeth Moss), and pathological liar Georgina (Clea DuVall). As Susanna recognizes Lisa's destructive influence and severe need for help, she starts working more closely with her psychiatrist (Vanessa Redgrave) and a compassionate nurse (Whoopi Goldberg) to heal. However, Susanna quickly learns that leaving the hospital is far more challenging than entering it.
The film Girl, Interrupted is based on Susanna Kaysen’s memoir of the same name, recounting her real-life experience in McLean Psychiatric Hospital in Massachusetts.
