2011 - 2020 GM Ecotec 1.4L Coolant Leak Diagnosis Repair (Chevrolet Cruze & Sonic)

In this video we show how to identify one possible source of coolant leaking from the GM Ecotec 1.4L Turbocharged engine. This engine is found in the Chevrolet Cruze and Chevrolet Sonic, among other GM models such as the Buick Encore. Once the coolant leak has been identified, we go over how to replace the failed rotted part with the latest genuine GM version of the part as well as new GM fasteners. These kinds of coolant leaks can be slow and difficult to find until there is sufficient DexCool residue present to clue you into the source.

The vehicle shown is a 2012 Chevrolet Cruze ECO, but the procedure is applicable to any Chevrolet or Buick from 2012 thru 2020 with the Ecotec 1.4L turbocharged engine including the following models:

Chevrolet Sonic, Chevrolet Cruze, Chevrolet Trax, and Buick Encore
