I visited the Coldest City in the United States (outside of Alaska), chatted with some locals & investigated why over 5,000 people live in this freezing, dark, desolate, remote town.
International Falls, a remote small city in Northern Minnesota on the US - Canada Border, is a beautiful company town nicknamed "The Icebox of the Nation..." due to it holding the record as the Coldest Town in the lower 48 states, with an average yearround temperature of just 37.4°F. The lowest temperature ever recorded here was -55°F, the windchill has dipped below -70°F, and the weather is actually colder here than the surface of Mars for a few weeks each year!
What is life really like in Koochiching County and Voyageurs National Park? And why do 5,000+ residents choose to live in one of the most inhospitable regions of the world? Join me on this epic road trip to find out.
