Camping and Wildlife Encounters: A Summer Road Trip Through Manitoba's Parks and Wilderness

Join us on our trip to Manitoba, Canada, where we will be car camping, staying at a family cabin, exploring Riding Mountain National Park, and visiting my hometown—all of which required careful planning and a lot of equipment.

We will travel approximately 1,100 km to our first destination, Bakers Narrows Provincial Park. From there, we’ll head to Setting Lake to hike in Manitoba's northern forests and visit a beautiful waterfall.

Next, we will travel south to Riding Mountain National Park. Finally, we’ll visit my hometown of Killarney, a charming prairie town situated along a stunning lake, where we had some unique encounters with the local wildlife.

While at Riding Mountain National Park we also did a backcountry camping trip with the goal of seeing Grey Owl's cabin and had some interesting encounters with the local black bears. Our backcountry story is featured in a separate video, which is linked below..
