Blood donation is generally safe, but some donors may experience temporary side effects. These reactions can range from mild discomfort to more noticeable symptoms.
Common Blood Donation Reactions
Bruising & Pain – Minor bruising at the needle site due to blood pooling under the skin.
Minor Bleeding – Some donors may experience slight bleeding after needle removal.
Fatigue & Lightheadedness – Temporary dizziness or weakness due to fluid loss.
Nausea – Some donors may feel queasy, especially if they donate on an empty stomach.
Vasovagal Reaction – A sudden drop in blood pressure causing fainting or sweating.
Iron Deficiency – Frequent donations may lead to lower iron levels over time.
Most of these effects resolve within a few hours with proper hydration and rest.
