The village of Rende takes its name from the old French word “Renne” that means kingdom.

Today, only about 800 people live here and it still preserves the Norman-Swabian castle, palaces and churches of historical heritage value and contemporary art museums.

In recent decades, Rende has expanded along the Crati valley thanks to the urban development of Cosenza, boosted by the institution of the University of Calabria.

Places you must visit: civic museum, 19th-20th century art museum, contemporary art museum, ceramic museum, Norman-Swabian castle.

Rende has several churches.
Three of them were declared of historical and artistic interest:
Santa Maria Maggiore;
Santa Maria di Costantinopoli;
SS Rosario.

Il borgo di rende prende il suo nome dal termine francese antico “Renne” che significa regno.

Oggi è abitato da circa 800 persone e conserva ancora il castello normanno svevo, palazzi e chiese di valore storico patrimoniale, numerose opere d'arte scultorea, pittorica e ceramica e musei di arte contemporanea.

Negli ultimi decenni Rende si è espansa lungo la valle del Crati "accondandosi" allo sviluppo urbano di Cosenza, alimentato dall’istituzione dell'Università della Calabria.

Posti che devi assolutamente visitare: il museo civico, il museo dell’arte dell’ 800 del 900, il museo d’arte contemporanea, il museo di ceramica, il castello Svevo-Normanno.

Rede conta diverse chiese al suo interno.
Tre di loro son ostate dichiarate di valore storico artistico:
Santa Maria Maggiore;
Santa Maria di Costantinopoli;
SS Rosario.
