This was a small settlement in Port Ross Auckland Island- one of New Zealand’s subantarctic Islands. Discover what happened and why to this site of an ill fated town development in the mid 1800s. The population peaked at about 300 however this colonial ‘experiment’ lasted only 2 years and 9 months before it was disbanded.
