Nisar Hussain Khan (1909-1993) of the Rampur Sahaswan Gharana passed away in 1993.
These edited and rearranged bits from the raw footage shot for Doordarshan's Surabhi programme on April 15, 1993 at the ITC Sangeet Research Academy in Kolkata show him talking to his nephew Ghulam Akbar Khan who also happened to be his son-in law and disciple.

The Rampur Sahaswan Gharana finds its origins in Mehboob Khan, the chief khayal singer in the royal court of Rampur State (in present Uttar Pradesh), who was followed by his son Inayat Hussain Khan (1849–1919) and in turn by Inyat Khan's brothers-in-law, Haider Khan (1857–1927), Fida Hussain Khan and Mushtaq Hussain Khan (1878–1964.
The gharana was named after their ancestral place, Sahaswan, in the present Badaun district of Uttar Pradesh.
