BBB Action Stem vs. Redshift Shockstop: Is Price More Important Than Hype?

Shopping for a suspension stem and to be honest, Redshift has always been the number one people recommend. Is this price justified though? Is it a case of marketing pushing the price up ?

I decided to take a chance on the BBB Action Suspension Stem, and I think it is an excellent alternative to the Redshift Shockstop. Certainly cheaper and even though it is heavier, I think if you are shopping for a suspension stem then weight would be at the back of the list anyway.

Since recording and putting together this video the prices have tumbled for the BBB Action Stem - Merlin Cycles have the best offer I've found as of right now, even the Redshift Shockstop has dropped slightly to £165 for all stem sizes at Westbrook Cycles. Which makes it still double the price of course.
