Stoina Dimitrova was born in 1883 in the village of Haznatar, Serres Region (nowadays Northern Greece). At the age of seven she was left blind after contacting smallpox. At the age of sixteen, St. George appeared to her and said, “Dig in the yard, where you will find an icon and a float light.” She found everything at the described place and erected a small church there with the help of the neighbors. She lived there until 1903. That same year the whole family, a group of refugees from Haznatar, settled in the southern town of Petrich (Bulgaria). And she chose the Church of St. George in Dolna Sushitsa (modern Zlatolist), where the priest and the village received her in the church, where she spent the rest of her life. She died at the age of 50 on December 22, 1933.
