Ukraine has agreed to a US proposal for an immediate 30-day ceasefire and has committed to working towards a lasting peace following Russia’s invasion. In talks held in Saudi Arabia, both sides also agreed to fast-track a deal to develop Ukraine’s critical mineral resources. This comes days after a heated exchange between Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and US President Donald Trump at the White House. Now, Trump has resumed military aid and intelligence sharing with Kyiv — both of which had been put on hold by Washington. After more than eight hours of discussions with Ukrainian officials in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio on March 11, 2025, announced that the US will now take the proposal to Russia.
