Today we explored some more around Thoirette and Gorges de l'Ain. It is incredible how beautiful it is around the area that we are staying at!
After a picnic by the beautiful Ain river, we went to see the 73m high Cize–Bolozon viaduct. It is a very impressive sight to see, but even more impressive is to drive and walk across it, even though you can only do so on the lower part as the higher span is only for train traffic. But the views from the lower span are pretty impressive too!
We then went for a walk along the river and beneath the high cliffs that loom over it. This area of France is not only incredibly beautiful, but also, at least at this time of year, completely empty of tourists! We didn't see another person on this walk. Instead we enjoyed the beautiful views, warm sunshine, chirping of the birds and rushing of the water! It was pure bliss!
After we were thoroughly relaxed from our walk, we drove to Villette dinosaur footprints. Here we saw many more dinosaur footprints from 150 million years ago and because, these footprints were on the ground, we got to literally walk in the dinosaur footprints! And, yes, you guessed it! We were the only people there!
