1) Maddison of Unthank Hall, co. Durham - Peter Maddison (fl. 1575), son of Rowland Maddison, son of Lionel Madison, son of Alexander Maddison, son of William Maddison, son of Richard Madyson, all of Unthank Hall, son of William Maddison of Allergill and Unthank (fl. 1428), son of John Madyson, son of Robert Madyson, son of Thomas Madyson of Allergill (fl. 13th century) - Quarterly; first and fourth, argent on a chevron between three martlets sable as many mullets or, for Marley, second, argent three bars gules within a bordure sable; third sable a fleur-de-lis argent. Crest: A dexter hand.
2) Madysion of Newcastle, co. Northumberland - Sir Lionel Maddison of Newcastle, Mayor, knighted in 1633 and was granted arms on June 6th, 1635, son of Henry Maddison (1574-1634), Mayor of Newcastle, son of Lionel Maddison (1537-1624), Mayor and Sheriff of Newcastle, coal entrepreneur, son of Rowland Maddison of Unthank Hall - Argent two battle-axes, in saltire sable.
