Nani Medeiros, the state’s chief housing officer, joined the Honolulu Star-Advertiser’s “Spotlight Hawaii” livestream show today and answered viewer questions. This series shines a spotlight on issues affecting the Hawaiian Islands.
Now appointed to the new state Cabinet position of chief housing officer, Medeiros wants to make owning — or renting — a home more affordable for everyone — the homeless, the middle class and even people who earn more than most — in an effort to dissuade residents from leaving the islands for more affordable communities.
