SKIPnROPE - How to do Backwards Skipping

Backwards skipping is the focus of this weeks tutorial. Many new skippers/jumpers feel that backwards skipping is just going in the opposite direction to forwards with the same technique. The biggest mistake made is positioning of your hands when backwards skipping.
It's important to remember during forwards skipping your hands will be in a natural position by your pockets but a little bit in front of your body. This allows the rope to hit the ground about 1-1.5ft in front of you. If your hands stay in that natural position when backward skipping it means that the rope only hits the ground very close to your heels behind you.
Remember to force your hands back in a circle behind you every time so the rope doesn't get caught in your feet. This will tire skippers/jumpers arms out quickly at the start as your not used to making circles with your hands back and chest opened further than usual. When you get tired concentrate on your form and technique to avoid making mistakes.
