The title is As the World Burns, 50 Simple Things You Can Do to Stay in Denial by Derrick Jensen. It was the first time I felt like someone really understood the thoughts I’d been carrying for years.

The book brutally calls out how most so-called environmental actions do far too little or make things worse. It convinced me we need better recipes for solving big global problems, ones that don’t rely on sacrifice or guilt, but that actually work and add comfort and luxury to everyday life.

That realization led me to rocket mass heaters, efficient gardening, and a deep dive into solutions that reduce your carbon footprint while making life better. Eventually, a bunch of us put all of it into a book: Building a Better World in Your Backyard Instead of Being Angry at Bad Guys.
