This is the gateway and interior of the 363-year-old Saeki family home in Hitokabe, Esashi Yonesato, Iwate Prefecture, Japan. Filmed for a forthcoming documentary by IWCS and IUFRO. The property contains 3 "kura" warehouses, one of which stores literary artifacts of the region, including the writings of Kenji Miyazawa and Ikuro Saeki, the poet, essayist and curator. The family were retainers of the Daimyo Lord Date Masamune (1567-1636).
