A three-time All-American and national champion wrestler, Chris Bono was Iowa State’s star on the mat in the mid-1990s (1994-97). Bono was a two-time conference champion at 150 pounds (1996 and 1997) and twice made the national championship match (1996 and 1997), winning the 1996 NCAA title with a 6-3 victory over Charlie Becks (Ohio State) to lead the Cyclones to a second-place team finish with only five NCAA qualifiers.
