“Taxi Driver”, “Chinatown”, “French Connection”, “Three days of condor”, “All the President’s Man”,…if you like the movies from the ’70s, AND you take photos, shoot videos on the street, you will like it.
It is (typically) the third “most affordable”(for Leica glass) vintage M-mount lens.
HOWEVER, the most affordable one is 90mm f/4 Leitz Elmar LTM, the second cheapest is Leica Hektor 135mm f/4.5, while they can be had for $100 - 200, they are not really useful for “run & gun” situation.
So, if you consider the “usefulness” factor, this is the most affordable vintage Leica lens that are ACTUALLY USEFUL.
Serial Number 2551470, this particular Summicron-C 40mm f/2
Out of 4000 that were built in 1972, in Wetzlar, Germany.
