In this funny Gopal Bhand story, Gopal goes to the market to buy groceries. Meanwhile, Pukki’s parents are very sad because their crops did not grow well this year, and they had no money. They went to ask the Raja for help. But on their way back, the greedy Maha Mantri tricked them and took away their pond (pukur) in exchange for some money. When Gopal finds out what happened, he becomes very angry. With his cleverness and humor, Gopal makes a smart plan to teach the Maha Mantri a lesson and save Pukki’s family.

Stories about his exploits are narrated in Bengal to this day and are immortalized in countless short stories. The stories are short, beautiful, humorous and have a specific social message. Gopal Bhar is famous for stories of his wisdom, in which he outwits other fellow courtiers.
