Firing up and listening on a vintage shortwave receiver Nov 10 2019

As many of you know my radio hobby started a young boy and began with broadcast band listening, CB radio, shortwave ad then ham radio. I have owned and sold and traded(with regret) many of my older vintage rigs and am just now trying to relive my youth. Although SWLing is NO-WHERE close to the days of old when we would spend hours listening for that rare Pacific Ocean SW station to transmit, and scribe our 15m worth of details down to get that elusive QSL card, whew, I still find listening to shortwave very relaxing and soothing. I want to find a Kenwood R-600 or better still the old Realistic Globe Patrol SW radio that I built from kit form a teen and spent endless hours with the ear phone attached at night whilst I was supposed to be sleeping. This old Trio will need some new tubes and capacitors to prevent any fires or melt downs, but all worth it in the end.....

I enjoy all aspects of the outdoors, be it hiking, biking, hunting, fishing or canoeing. Camping and survival are two skills I continually try and work on and stay ready and practiced in the event these lifesaving skills are required.
I have had many teachers in my life and appreciate all that they have taught me, and I try to do the same thing.
Amateur radio is also one of my hobbies and past time, and it as well has taught me lots and has helped me meet people around the world. Family is of course the most important aspect of my life and has brought me the most enjoyable memories in life.
