Woodchip train on the Caldwell County Railroad!
On January 18th, 2025, the CWCY crew was tasked with picking up 10 wood chip cars that had previously been in storage on the far north end of the line in Lenoir, NC. The crew would run north with the lite locomotive, a classic Family Lines GP16 numbered 1811. Upon arrival to the storage tracks, the crew found that all the cut levers had been pulled along each car, so coupling up for departure was not an easy task. On the way back to home base, the crew would pick up cars from the Pregis transload facility in Granite falls, making for a pretty neat long train. This was especially rare considering the usual 2-3 car runs. Enjoy the video!
