Edelgard was the most popular lord and even the most popular Three Houses character before the game got out. But her "secret" route in the game is so, so much worse than the other campaigns.
This video obviously has spoilers for Three Houses, most notably Part 2 for Crimson Flower (Black Eagles). Also some FE4 spoilers, but those have warnings in front of them.
