Gothic rock is a music genre that emerged in the late 1970s as a darker, more atmospheric subgenre of post-punk with early bands like Bauhaus, Siouxsie and the Banshees, and The Cure.
Goth rock singers and people in the subculture also started the iconic traditional goth (AKA trad goth) fashion style that is making a comeback today.
