This homemade sweet potato fries are perfectly crispy and golden every time. By coating the fries in a light flour and cornstarch mixture and using vinegar- water method, you’ll achieve that restaurant - style crunch without soggy fries. Deep - fried in batches for maximum crispness these fries are simple, affordable, and absolutely delicious. Best serve hot with a sprinkle of salt! ✨😋
🛒 Ingredients:
Sweet potatoes ( peeled, washed, and dried )
oil for frying
Crispy Coating :
2 tablespoon all - purpose flour
2 tablespoon cornstarch
1/4 teaspoon baking powder
*1/4 teaspoon baking soda
Vinegar Mixture:
1 tablespoon vinegar
1 tablespoon water
Instructions:
1. Peel the sweet potatoes, wash them well, and pat completely dry.
2. Cut into - even sized fries and place them in a large bowl.
3. In a small bowl, mix flour, cornstarch, baking powder, and baking soda. Set aside.
4. In another small bowl, mix white vinegar and water.
5. Sprinkle 1/3 of the flour mixture over the sweet potato and mix until coated.
6.Add half of the vinegar - water mixture, then mix well.
7. Add half of the remaining flour mixture, mix again.
8. Pour in the remaining vinegar- water mixture and mix.
9. Finally, add the last portion of the flour mixture and mix until evenly coated.
10. Heat oil in a pan over medium heat.
11. Fry the sweet potatoes in batches - do not overcrowd the pan. Separate fries to keep them from sticking.
12. Fry for about 5 minutes or until crispy golden brown.
13. Remove and drain on a wire rack.
14.Sprinkle with salt and serve hot.
Seasoning Variations ( Optional After Frying )
Salt only ( perfect crunch )
Salt + garlic powder + parsley
Salt + paprika + cayenne or chili powder
