Lea Porter was a vibrant 19-year-old from Cotopaxi, Colorado, with her whole life ahead of her - until her sudden disappearance in June 2014.

The search that followed suggested something terrible had happened to her, and suspicion soon fell on 23-year-old Christopher Waide, a former high school classmate.

This is Waide’s full interrogation - recorded two days before his arrest - in which he walked detectives through the hours he spent with Lea leading up to her disappearance. He recounted, in disturbing detail, what happened inside his apartment - including his claim that they became physically intimate. As the interview progressed, Waide explained his obsession with tarot, his violent high school fantasies about r*pe and murder, and his addiction to pornography. Detectives turned up the pressure, confronting him about inconsistencies in his story, the shocking evidence found in his apartment, and the crucial items missing from it. Eventually, Waide began to unravel, his heavy breathing and shifting body language revealing that he was on the verge of breaking.

Arrest and Conviction:
On June 12, 2014, Waide confessed to the murder of Lea Porter and was arrested while authorities continued searching for her. After a 45-day investigation, her clothes, phone, and wallet were recovered, but her body was never found. Waide ultimately accepted a plea deal for second-degree murder and, on November 6, 2015, was sentenced to 48 years in prison.
