Today, we are diving deep into what is arguably the most crucial shot in pool: the Half-ball Sshot.

This shot, which corresponds to approximately a 30-degree cut angle, is not merely common; it's the bedrock for consistently running racks.

The Ubiquitous Angle: This specific angle appears constantly in both offensive and defensive play throughout a frame. The Tolerance Factor: For American pool pockets, the generous geometry provides a sufficient margin for error (or tolerance). Even if the angle is slightly off, say 25 degrees or 35 degrees, a half-ball hit can often still pot the ball, particularly on shorter distance shots.

The Foundation: This is the paramount reason! Acquiring complete mastery of the half-ball hit provides you with a reliable starting point (or baseline) against which you can meticulously calibrate every other cut angle. Stop relying on guesswork, begin referencing this fundamental shot!
