This post is a heartfelt tribute to Mike Raymond and his pioneering Channel 7 team, who delivered an iconic live telecast that truly "stopped Australia." Their broadcast debuted the groundbreaking RaceCam technology, featuring live crosses to driver Peter Williamson throughout the race, bringing viewers closer to the action than ever before.

Channel 7 Sport led the world in sporting telecasts at the time, setting a new standard for innovation and excitement.

On the track that year, Peter Brock and Jim Richards dominated in their Holden Dealer Team Torana A9X, clinching victory by a staggering six laps over runners-up Peter Janson and Larry Perkins (also in a Torana A9X). This marked Brock's fourth Bathurst win and Richards' second, cementing their status as legends. Adding to the innovation, RaceCam made its debut mounted in Peter Williamson's Toyota Celica, offering unprecedented in-car perspectives that changed motorsport broadcasting forever.
