Episode 1490

Emily (Eileen Derbyshire) tries to get Stan (Bernard Youens) and Eddie (Geoffrey Hughes) to move Ernie's (Stephen Hancock) piano into her living room. They make their excuses but Jerry (Graham Haberfield) guilt trips Eddie into helping. Blanche (Maggie Jones) goes on at Deirdre (Anne Kirkbride) about wedding things but Deirdre is more concerned about Gail (Helen Worth) getting the airline job. Albert (Jack Howarth) is sad that Peter (Linus Roache) has gone back to Glasgow. Eddie talks to Stan in The Kabin and suddenly comes up with a "good" idea. In the Rovers, Rita (Barbara Knox) runs into Alec Gilroy (Roy Barraclough) her old manager from when she sang at the Working Men's Club. He tries to tempt her back into show business. Eddie brings an Alsatian into the Rovers. Minnie (Margot Bryant) refuses to let it live at No. 5 and Annie (Doris Speed) chucks them out the pub. Albert is interested in housing the dog to make a profit and also get revenge on Bobby the Cat. Ray (Neville Buswell) and Jerry refuse to hire the dog to protect the copper piping in the yard. Eddie later breaks into the yard and leaves a note to prove his point about hiring a guard dog. Billy (Kenneth Farrington) tells a miserable Deirdre to make her mind up about the wedding and sort herself out.
