Sri Lanka is one of the most beautiful countries in the world. Transport in Sri Lanka is based on its road network, which is centered on the country's commercial capital Colombo. A rail network handles a portion of Sri Lanka's transport needs. There are navigable waterways, harbours and three international airports: in Katunayake, 35 kilometers (22 mi) north of Colombo, in Hambantota, and in Jaffna.
I used to drive Subaru Impreza WRX STI 2004 (Version 8) on the beautiful road system in here. There are a lot of scenic roads with stunning views. Polonnaruwa to Batticaloa road is one of them and we can drive through the one and only Flood Plains National Park in Sri Lanka. Driving is a challenge always. But, you need to be more careful in these type of environments as animals can cross the road at any time. Driving my Subaru, one of the best handling vehicles in the world is a great experience.
Flood Plains National Park (Sinhala: ජලගැලුම් නිම්න ජාතික වනෝද්යානය, romanized: Jalagælum Nimna Jātika Vanōdyānaya; Tamil: வெள்ளச் சமவெளிகள் தேசிய வனம், romanized: Veḷḷac Camaveḷikaḷ Tēciya Vaṉam) is one of the four national parks set aside under the Mahaweli River development project in Sri Lanka. The park was created on 7 August 1984. The national park is situated along the Mahaweli flood plain and is considered a rich feeding ground for elephants. Flood Plains National Park is considered an elephant corridor for the elephants migrate between Wasgamuwa and Somawathiya national parks. The park is situated 222 kilometres (138 mi) north-east of Colombo.
