Hi YouTubers. Here is a new video where I re-recorded myself with 2 great guitars. I chose 'Someday My Prince will Come', probably one of the greatest jazz waltz ever, after that Mr. Miles Davis & his friends showed us the way.
This Gibson L5 is a cutaway model from 1953. I've tried several post-war models, and this one is by far the best I could test in my hands. Monster guitar. And the ES 150, 'Charlie Christian' model is from 1938. Canon guitar too ! Hope you'll enjoy the tone of them.
Gear: mike for the L5C is a Rode NT1A model. Certainly not the best to render the tone quality of the L5, but it's the only one I have presently under hand. The ES 150 is plugged in a Fender Super Sonic (60 W clear channel) and recorded with a Shure SM 57 in front of it.
As for the tune played, I am using the tonality of E, to take profit of the open strings for the comping guitar. Also, over the B part, I am using the 'Coltrane changes' as a personal variation. I've always played it this way since my early days and probably will always do.
