Amazing Grace, The House of the Rising Sun.
James Kilbane is a Christian country singer from Achill Island, Ireland. This adaptation of 'Amazing Grace' to the melody of 'The House of the Rising Sun' was influenced by an experience James had at a live performance by the 'Blind Boy's of Alabama' in Cleveland, Ohio at Playhouse Square theatre in October 2005. The event was in celebration of Soul legend, Sam Cooke as a soul-gospel pioneer. James' call to record this version of the classic Rev. John Newton hymn Amazing Grace, written 1773 and the folk melody from the 1850's of, House of the Rising Sun together was important to James, musically and spiritually to record. This call to record continued for 17 years until now and this new official release. Amazing Grace is one of the greatest hymns of faith in overcoming adversities. In history there are melodies used for the hymn's lyrics 'Amazing Grace' other than the very unknow music melody written originally by the Rev. John Newton's version of his 'Amazing Grace' in 1773.
