Episode Notes:
1. A few different capture methods here. The arcade and MSX footage is emulation. The NES footage is FPGA. The Gameboy footage is real hardware.
2. No, I do not consider the PC Engine 8-bit. It's a 4th generation console.
3. If you like Castlevania II Simon's Quest, look up one of its many fan hacks. They really improve the game.
4. I beat Simon's Quest back then with the help of a guide. There was no way I would have done it, otherwise.
5. I own every NES and Gameboy version in this video. I even own the PS2 version of Haunted Castle.
6. The MSX2 version of Vampire Killer feels like it takes a fair bit of inspiration from Konami's Goonies for the Famicom.
7. I genuinely dislike Haunted Castle. It's too hard, doesn't play well, the sprite looks awful, and the sound effects are ear-grating. Konami did the series a great disservice there.
8. Some people are asking if the arcade Haunted Castle was 16-bit. It uses an 8-bit CPU. I'm not 100% sure about the graphics sub-system since all that Konami stuff was custom, but I added it for fun either way since the timing was right for its release and it wasn't in my 16-bit episode.
