Merseyrail is keen to remind people what it’s doing in conjunction with partners in the Liverpool City Region to keep trains running so that they provide a reliable, efficient service that passengers can count on. Stadler has a full service contract for 35 years to maintain these trains. Every day, we strive to ensure trains perform to a high standard, with reliability and availability an absolute priority. The METRO trains that we’ve delivered feature step-free access throughout, which makes it much simpler for everyone - especially for wheelchair users and those with limited mobility. Seven of the 53 trains are independently powered electric multiple units, run by battery. This ground-breaking technology has enabled our clients to expand the network and open a brand new station without having to upgrade the infrastructure. So passengers don’t have to change trains, making travel smoother, encouraging more people to travel by rail and helping cut carbon emissions.
