Tried my hand at the Teufelberger Splife for the first time on Tachyon. It's an attractive splicing method for two main reasons; it makes the splice more slender and pliable and, due to the core reduction, the finishing of the splice doesn't require the exceptional force of a class 1 style splice. I was very happy with the resulting splice in both Tachyon and the Yale XTC 24 sample that I did. The splice is super smooth and strong enough. Like any core diminishing splice, the eye produced is weaker than the MBS of the rope.
my break test results were:
Tachyon 1:
4642 lbs
Tachyon 2:
4721
XTC 24 head to head:
5554 lbs
The XTC 24 Yale Prism sample had a Class 1 splice on the opposite end and the rope broke in the Splife eye.
