Watching You - Satoko x Rika - Higurashi Gou AMV

I didn't even realize it was Valentines day as I post this... It's not a very festive video for this holiday (well, maybe the first half? It gets a bit too creepy by the end), but oh well. I'm still really enjoying the new Higurashi season, and felt motivated to make a 3rd video. This one only took a day/afternoon. It didn't take too long to edit since its a slower song, but I've always thought this was a good song for Higurashi. Years ago I'd started working on a video of Keiichi and Rena with this song, but now with the new season, I actually like it even better for Rika and Satoko, and the tension that builds between them in these recent episodes.

Video theme: Rika and Satoko are childhood best friends in a small town. As they grow up, Rika is excited to move and go to a new highschool. She promises Satoko that they'll go together and continue to stay close, so Satoko follows her. Once at school though, the two drift apart as Rika makes new friends and embraces the school's lessons in high society, while Satoko does not. Satoko feels betrayed and alone, and begins to imagine herself inflicting pain on Rika as retribution.
