If We Were Villains or a Unique Story of Seven Flawed People

Now I can't say that I do read a lot of novels which could fall under the Dark Academia umbrella, so I might be completely wrong here, but... If We Were Villains felt like a story I have never had a chance to read before. It was unique and atmospheric, and reading it felt like a completely new experience.

That being said, If We Were Villains wasn't a very easy read for me, it felt draining at times. I mean, this amount of negative emotions is bound to leave its mark on the reader, right? And that's why I'm not ashamed to admit, that in between of reading this book, I have also read three others, just so I could let my brain rest.

One of the best things about this novel, however, is how open to interpretation it is. We follow the stories of seven people, while actually having a POV of just one of them, and consequently lots and lots of things are being left unsaid. Just like in real life, you are forced to draw your own conclusions from the very limited information you're given.
