An Equatorial Sundial is a sundial used to tell time that uses a thin wire or rod to cast a shadow on a curved dial. A great example of an Equatorial Sundial is the one at Griffith Observatory in Los Angeles. In this video, I construct an Equatorial Sundial from a wood kit made by Abong Inc. I will show you how to build the model step by step, including a couple of missteps.
When finished you can set the sundial to polar North and set the dial for local clock time or solar time.
