"They Tried to Silence Us: A Survivor Speaks About Targeting Journalists in Gaza"

In this episode of Expert Talk by Witness Eye, we hear the testimony of Hazem Rajab, a Palestinian media professional and survivor of a deliberate Israeli strike on a journalist crew in Gaza. On January 7, 2024, three young men were killed in that attack: Hamza Dahdouh, Mustafa Thuraya, and their driver Qusai Salem. Hazem and his colleague Mohammed Al-Qahwaji survived, but with devastating injuries.

Moments before the strike, they were filming a rescue operation, when Hamza told everyone to recite the Shahada, and when the missile hit. He describes waking up between worlds, uncertain if he was being carried to a hospital or to burial. He recounts 17 surgeries on his hand in Gaza alone, the constant threat of hospital raids, and the unbearable grief of losing his colleagues without being able to attend their funerals.
