A mini driver is a club that sits between a modern driver and a 3 wood in size and performance. It typically has a smaller head than a standard driver (around 300–350cc compared to 450–460cc), a shorter shaft, and slightly more loft. The design makes it easier to control than a driver while still offering more distance than a fairway wood.
Golfers use a mini driver when they want accuracy off the tee without giving up too much yardage. The shorter shaft and compact head reduce dispersion, making it a great option for tight fairways or players who struggle to control a full-size driver. Many high handicappers and even tour players use mini drivers as a “fairway finder” club. In essence, a mini driver blends the forgiveness of a driver with the playability of a 3 wood, giving golfers a reliable alternative for consistent tee shots.
