Meet Ka ʻOhana Topinio and Ka ʻOhana Souza as they share about their journey to Ka La‘i Ola.
Since the fires, HomeAid Hawaiʻi has been working tirelessly with government and community partners to develop Ka La‘i Ola in West Maui, an interim housing project focused on healing and rebuilding this community. With the support of the State of Hawaiʻi and Hawaiʻi Community Foundation’s Maui Strong Fund, we have prepared the site, set up the homes, and earlier this month, welcomed our first residents. However, our work is far from over. We still need to provide essential services—such as childcare and healthcare—that will make this a true community.
