🇺🇸 A $60 million F/A-18E Super Hornet has been lost at sea after falling overboard from the USS Harry S. Truman aircraft carrier during an intense Houthi missile threat in the Red Sea. The jet was being towed inside the hangar bay when the carrier executed a sharp evasive maneuver to avoid incoming fire. The tow crew lost control, and the aircraft — along with its tractor — plunged into the ocean.
⚠️ The pilot inside the cockpit escaped just in time, sustaining only minor injuries. All crew members were accounted for. The Super Hornet, now declared lost at sea, was part of ongoing US operations in one of the world’s most volatile maritime zones.
🌍 The Red Sea is currently a hotspot of rising tension, with the US Navy and coalition forces — including ships from the UK, France, and Italy — defending shipping lanes against Houthi drone and missile attacks. These assaults follow ongoing US airstrikes on Houthi positions in Yemen, part of a broader conflict connected to regional instability and the war in Gaza.
