I came across this issue on my last trip. After driving for hundreds of KMs and not having one issue starting, I parked for the day at the hotel and came back to find my bike wouldn't activate when I pressed the key. Nothing. Checked everything from fob battery to bike battery. I came across a post noting the disconnect / reconnect wiring harness solution that got me back home.
* Update*
I decided to not fix the Kipass switch that fails. Instead, I installed a switch that is on the black/white wire in the grey connector. To start, I switch this switch off then on again which causes the same action as pressing the key. You now have about 5 secs to start the bike. Problem solved with a $5 switch.
