Watchhouse performs "The Wolves" at the Earl Scruggs Music Festival 08/31/25

It was a gorgeous late summer day in the foothills of western NC, a perfect setting for the Old North State's own, Watchhouse. They gave an insightful and engaging talk earlier in the afternoon at the festival, with renowned journalist and music host (and podcaster), Craig Havighurst. It was there that I learned, for example, that Andrew Marlin finds his lyrics much less relatable to him personally than his fans do. Craig might make their conversation into an episode of his excellent podcast, The String.
I also got to bring them on stage, which was a treat by itself but even better because it allowed me to sit on the side of the stage and take in their set. Of course, they cast a spell on the audience, as you would expect.
