Teaching EFL in the UK | ELT Experiences

What is it like Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL) in the UK? What should you expect when you return back to the UK to teach English as a Foreign Language? TEFL can be quite a lucrative career and allows individuals to work abroad. However, working in EFL in the UK is quite challenging.

In this video, I share my personal experiences of the private EFL industry in the U.K. I first returned back to England back in 2009 and spent my first few years back relearning how to teach English to learners.

It was a tough time, but if you persevere then you will achieve whatever you aim. It takes a lot of hard work and one cannot underestimate the importance of Continuing Professional Development (CPD).

If you wish to continue your CPD within EFL, you could consider doing either a Diploma (such as a DELTA or Trinity DipTESOL) or an MA in EFL, ELT or TESOL. This will further open up opportunities and you may find more permanent jobs in the U.K. post Diploma or MA.
