Phylis Lewellen went missing from Longview, Washington on December 27, 1996. Phylis was 36 years old, 5'5", and 120 pounds with strawberry blonde hair when she disappeared. She was last seen driving her 1981 Peugeot 505 sedan with her beloved Rottweiler dog, K.

A Puzzling Final Night 🌙

Phylis’ last known hours have presented several challenges for the investigation. Around 11 PM, she told her husband, Bill, that she was heading out to watch the sunrise, a detail he found strange given the late hour. Because her usual truck had a dead battery, she took the family's Peugeot instead. Feeling uneasy, Bill told her to take either a gun or their dog for protection; she chose to take the dog.

About 30 minutes later, Bill called Phylis to check on her, and she assured him that everything was fine. Shortly after, one of her best friends also called and received a similar, calm response. The final call was around midnight from an unknown caller. This was the last time her loved ones would hear from her. One theory that emerged was that she may have been heading to Long Beach, where she allegedly had a boyfriend. While previous searches took the team to Long Beach based on theories she may have traveled there, this investigation focuses on new intelligence pointing to locations right in her hometown.

Focusing the Search in Longview 🗺️

This episode is dedicated to an intensive search of the waterways in the Longview area, close to where Phylis lived. The team is acting on new local tips, including a significant one from a kayaker who reported seeing the roof of a car in the river near her house. With this new lead, the team concentrates their efforts on several key local spots:

Pacific Way: A road Phylis may have traveled on her way home, which runs alongside several bodies of water.
Local Ponds: Two ponds located off Industrial Way were suggested by a viewer as potential, easily accessible vehicle disposal sites.
Rainier Boat Ramp: The team focuses on the location of the older ramp that was in use back in 1996.
Longshoreman Docks: This area is of interest due to its industrial nature and the high volume of river traffic over the years. The team scans around the docks, considering that a vehicle could be hidden by underwater debris or affected by past dredging operations.
Dibley Beach: A familiar spot for Phylis, making it another important local area to clear.

Each location is systematically scanned using advanced sonar to identify any underwater objects that could be Phylis' Peugeot.
