Savior Of The Nations, Come (NUN KOMM, DER HEIDEN HEILAND) from the Lutheran Service Book #332. Recorded at St. Paul Lutheran Church - LCMS of Decatur, IN during my time serving as organist and choral director for a Christmas Vespers concert on Saturday, December 17th, 2022. This hymn was the recessional hymn for the Vespers and included both the adult and children's choir along with the acolytes and Pastor. Congregants sang all of the stanzas with the exception of stanza three, which was sung by women only, and stanza four, which was sung by men only. A brief interlude is presented between stanzas seven and eight, on which the Zimbelstern (spinning bells) can be heard sounding in the final stanza. The organ is an eight-rank mechanical action organ from the early 1900s; primarily principal and flute ranks with no reed stops.
Text attributed to Ambrose of Milan (340 - 397)
Tune attributed to Wittenberg (1524)
